The touching story of a cat that brings a leaf to its owner every morning for an unusual reason (14 photos)
A guy named Ben told his Instagram followers a touching story about why his cat brings him a large leaf or stick every morning. It turned out that she was trying to show her great love for her owner, for the sake of which she even had to moderate her hunting instincts.
Cats find their people in different ways. For some they fall straight from the ceiling, for others they appear from the bushes at the most decisive moment, but for a guy named Ben his girlfriend brought a small black kitten as a gift.
If you think that now there will be a phrase about how happy Ben was, then no. He (may the great Kus forgive him!) told his girlfriend that taking a cat into the house was too big a responsibility for them, so the couple took the pet to its previous owners.
And so began their new life with Balu.
The cat had to share a student dormitory with Ben: six other guys and four of their girls lived with him. As you can imagine, parties happened at this place more often than just on Fridays. But it didn’t seem to bother Bal too much. The main thing is that during all these celebrations she could calmly walk among people and feel their love.
But in the morning, when the students finally fell into their beds, Balu went hunting.
She usually did not return without prey and put her trophies directly on the face of the sleeping owner to show how much she loved him. Most of them were small rodents, and they were still alive, Baloo carried them so carefully so that Ben would appreciate her efforts.
But you can imagine how in the morning (after another stormy night!) the guy reacted to something running across his face.
“I would wake up, jump out of bed screaming, try to catch another rodent that Baloo had brought, and tell her, “Stop bringing me that!”, throwing the animals out the window in front of her.”
Baloo did not understand her master’s reaction and looked confused...
Ben understood that this was how the cat showed her love for him, but he didn’t like rodents in the morning even more.
“I don’t know if it was a gift for her or if she thought she was feeding me breakfast. Considering that we were eating only fast food at the time, she probably wanted to feed me healthier food.”
This went on for two months, during which Baloo managed to catch (but not kill) more than a dozen mice and birds. But one morning everything changed.
Ben woke up and instead of a rodent, he found a huge leaf next to his bed, next to which Baloo was sitting.
The same thing repeated the next morning, and the morning after the next, and has not stopped to this day. Baloo somehow realized that her owner did not like gifts in the form of rodents, and began to hunt for leaves and sometimes twigs.
Ben was happy. Now every morning he woke up and, to show Balu his gratitude, played with her and the leaf right on his chest. He did not throw away any of the gifts, however, most of them were destroyed by Balu herself in a fit of passion while playing with them.
“Sometimes I wonder how she looks for these leaves before bringing them to me. I imagine how she walks around like that and thinks: “Oh, this is a beautiful leaf, he will like it!”, “Nah, this one looks like yesterday, he already has one." While I sleep, she has adventures. It's so cute!"
And yes, we’ll tell you a secret: Ben now has two cats, and they both took over the owner’s Instagram account.
It seems that we are calm for this inhabitant of planet Earth, because he has found his happiness.
