To his family, Louis has always been a completely ordinary dog. He was adopted from a shelter in infancy and turned out to be a very smart, kind and quick-witted dog.

He lived a long and happy 12 years in his home and never even thought about escaping. But that morning things didn't go as expected.

Waking up in the morning, the owners discovered that Louis had run out the back door, which was open, and rushed off somewhere, since he was not in the yard. After a whole day of hopeless searching, the people returned home.

They were very upset because they thought that they had lost their pet forever. Who would have thought that Louis would return home in the evening?

And he will return not the same dog he was in the morning. He returned as a real hero! They learned about this from a note attached to his collar.

The note read: “Louis is a true hero. He led me to Maddie, who was in trouble. She got stuck in the branches. Rob.”

As it turned out later, Rob is a neighbor, a farmer. And Maddie is his favorite dog. Louis somehow miraculously sensed that Maddie needed help and hurried to her.

He came running in the evening completely exhausted, as if without strength. He collapsed on the floor and slept like that all night. Well, his owners called Rob to find out all the details.

It turns out that Maddie got stuck not far from the house, near the pond, in the roots of an old tree. She couldn't move and would have stayed there for who knows how long if it weren't for Louis.

He noticed his girlfriend, ran to Rob and began to pull his trouser leg so that he would come with him. Rob didn’t understand for a long time what was going on, but Louis insisted and had to agree. So Rob was brought to his dear dog. Louis helped free her and then he and Maddie happily drank water near the pond.

Then, returning home to Rob, he fed both of them and especially Louis, for saving Maddie.

To avoid being scolded too much at home for his long absence, Rob attached a note to the dog’s collar about his heroic deed. Fortunately, Louis's owners saw her and learned that their dog was a real hero.

But for some reason Louis was in no hurry to get better. Perhaps, due to his advanced age, this rescue operation was difficult for him. However, he felt unwell.

But as soon as the next day Rob came to visit them with Maddie, Louis blossomed!

He jumped up and chatted cheerfully with his girlfriend.
