An American family adopted a girl from Ukraine. But a year later they received a letter...
We all feel the need to communicate. And we are, of course, not talking about ordinary daily interaction with others, but rather about having a loving family and close friends who could support in difficult times and share joy in bright times. It's no secret that family is not only a blood connection, although most often this is what happens. But also just a feeling of spiritual kinship and mutual love, which we all so need.
Orphans know about families only from books. It is difficult to imagine that there are babies in the world who were not given the opportunity to know their mother’s affection and care. But, fortunately, there are people who are ready to love other people’s children as their own and give orphans a family.
Family ties are one of the strongest bonds in the world.
Sometimes this connection even has nothing to do with one’s own blood and genetics, but the person remains firmly convinced: this is my family. And I am part of it. It happens.
When Nanette and Vern Garrett decided they wanted to have a child, they both considered adoption.
By that time, the couple already had six children of their own, and the woman really wanted to have a little girl as well. After some searching, they, by the will of fate, ended up in the Ukrainian National Adoption Center, where they spent many hours looking through photographs of orphaned children. Suddenly the search stopped at one photo. It had a little girl on it with a bow.
Nanette says she knew at first glance that it was her daughter. Her Emily.
After some paperwork, the girl was told that it was her dad and mom. Nobody expected such a reaction. The child rushed to his father and hugged him as if he were his own. The happy couple went home to reunite with the rest of their family. But after some time they received a letter. It turns out that their sister Emily still has a sister, Lisa, in Ukraine.
The older sister took care of the baby from her birth.
Their father was an alcoholic, and their mother was always disappearing somewhere. And Lisa, hungry and lonely, went to the neighbors to get a piece of bread for her sister. Then, when she was taken to an orphanage, Lisa was left alone. And now she was terribly upset to learn that her own blood had been taken so far away. Surprisingly, the letter did not contain a single drop of resentment towards Emily's new parents.
The girl wrote not like an offended adult child, but like a real mother.
She thanked them for the fact that now her sister had a real family and only casually mentioned that she missed her. After a short meeting, the Garretts responded by asking Lisa if she wanted to become part of their family? Lisa answered: “Yes”!
And this is a shot from the meeting between Lisa and Emily at the airport. Now everything is fine with them, and the family of ten lives happily and happily!
