Travel from St. Petersburg to Moscow. A special way (6 episodes) (renewed)
episode 1 - Lyuban – Chudovo
At the beginning of his journey, at the Lyuban station, Radishchev meets a farmer and is horrified by his hard lot. How do residents of villages located between capitals live today? Who plows the land? Why does hogweed grow in the fields along the highway? And where did the inhabitants of the depopulated village of Radishchevo, named after the writer, go?
episode 2 - Veliky Novgorod
At a stop in Novgorod, Radishchev indulges in reflections on the former greatness of the Novgorod republic, brutally destroyed by the troops of the Moscow principality. Radishchev was an opponent of the imperial development of the country.
It is believed that by the “monster” from the book’s famous epigraph the writer meant the Russian Empire. The film crew met in Novgorod with both supporters of the empire and its opponents, visited a Ukrainian refugee camp, and also made a raid from local services
In the third part of the trip, the film crew ends up in Valdai, famous for the dachas of top officials. However, in Radishchev’s time these places were known not for dachas, but for ladies, and of very frivolous behavior. Representatives of the first ancient one continue to work hard along the route to this day. In the village of Edrovo, the film crew, following Radishchev, meets the young women of the village, and even goes with one of them to the local disco.
episode 4 - Vyshny Volochyok – Torzhok
In the chapter “Torzhok” Radishchev reflects on the dangers of censorship. After a meeting with the editor-in-chief of the Torzhok Week newspaper, it became clear that there is no censorship in Torzhok simply because it is completely unnecessary.
When asked whether there are opposition publications in Torzhok, the editor-in-chief replied: “No. Our life is simply good. There is no need to criticize anything"
Episode 5: Mednoe – Tver
Episode 6: Turginovo - Zavidovo (final)
In the sixth and final episode, the travelers deviated a little from Radishchev’s route and visited the village of Turginovo, where President Putin’s family comes from, and the village of Pryamukhino, where the Bakunin estate is living out its last days.
Returning to the highway, the film crew stopped in the village of Zavidovo, famous for its proximity to government dachas. A tour of the village was given by local residents - the famous oppositionist Sergei Mokhnatkin and the first black deputy in Russia, Jean-Gregoire Sagbo.
