Retro Photos: Office Interiors and Tech in the '70s and '80s (10 Photos)

The 1970s marked a period of sweeping changes in office culture, layout, and technology. Workspaces grew more ergonomic, employees gained more personal space, and early computers emerged, revolutionizing workflows and the very nature of work itself. Technology has advanced dramatically over the past half-century, making the equipment of that era look like a total anachronism today—and all the more fascinating to look back on.

These photos from the Melbourne Harbour Trust series, part of the Public Record Office Victoria collection, showcase office spaces and equipment used by employees of the Port of Melbourne Authority (PMA). The shots were taken at the Market Street offices during the 1970s and '80s, as well as the World Trade Centre in Melbourne in 1983.
