Chinese Theater Troupe Turns Goofy Dance Craze Into a Stunning Spectacle (1 photo + 3 videos)

Tutorial clips featuring quirky dance moves like the "bear shaking its fur" have recently taken Chinese social media by storm. What started as vintage training footage for an art academy quickly sparked a wave of memes and parodies. Now, the viral routine has made its way onto a professional theater stage.

The trend kicked off when internet users unearthed archival instructional videos from the Beijing Dance Academy dating back to the 1990s. Viewers soon began copying routines with eccentric names such as the "lightning step," "prodigal son kicks the ball," and "bear shaking its fur." The exaggerated steps and overly expressive delivery quickly turned a serious folk dance masterclass into viral gold, with instructors' likenesses even ending up on keychains and custom merchandise.

However, trying these moves without proper conditioning can be dangerous. Doctors have warned that the choreography requires significant core and leg strength, along with sharp coordination and body control. In the wake of the craze, clinics across China have reported treating a surge of young people with joint sprains and ligament injuries.
