We live in an age where any image can be faked, so it’s only natural to meet extraordinary photos with a healthy dose of skepticism. These 20 shots look like clever Photoshop jobs, but every single one of them is completely real. Here is what is actually going on in each picture.







An X-ray of a beaver's tail reveals nothing more than a slender chain of vertebrae. Scientists could never have reconstructed its iconic paddle shape from bones alone—which raises interesting questions about dinosaurs.
