This was the first time such tests were conducted. The robot in heat-resistant armor can stay in an area with temperatures around 500 degrees for up to two minutes.
The robot is designed for reconnaissance: it can detect the source of a fire, check the air for hazardous gases, and search for people in smoke-filled rooms. During the test, it was used in a simulated tunnel fire—the robot had to be the first to inspect the danger zone and transmit information to rescuers.
