Alarming footage from the operating room of the central hospital in the Japanese city of Yatsushiro. Surgeons were performing abdominal surgery when tremors suddenly began.

It all happened on July 28 in Kumamoto Prefecture — the natural disaster struck suddenly, catching the medical staff off guard. As a result, most of the equipment and instruments required for the surgery fell and were damaged.
On July 28, several regions of Japan were struck by the disaster. Kyushu Island and the Kumamoto, Amakusa, and Ashikita prefectures were affected by the earthquake. The magnitude of the tremors was 6–7.
