The European Central Bank has decided to update its traditional banknotes and officially unveiled potential designs for future euro banknotes. EU citizens are being offered a choice between two fundamentally different themes: one themed around the continent's cultural heritage, the other on its natural treasures, such as rivers and birds. The large-scale vote will run until September 21, 2026, after which the final design will be approved by the end of the year. The updated banknotes themselves are expected to enter circulation between 2030 and 2032, giving Europeans plenty of time to get used to the upcoming changes in their wallets.
