A Train Caught in the Eye of a Forest Fire in Canada
Footage shows fire engulfing both sides of the tracks, with the locomotive enveloped in thick smoke. One of the crew members says, "This could get us."
According to local media, the incident occurred during an attempt to evacuate a road worker. The locomotive was uncoupled from the train, but in thick smoke and poor visibility, it collided with its train, sparking new fires. The crew members then abandoned the locomotive and were able to escape on foot. No one was injured.
According to authorities, 128 wildfires are still burning in northwestern Ontario. Evacuations have been issued in several communities, and rail service in some areas has been disrupted.
Ontario Provincial Police also reported that three freight trains carrying flammable materials have been stopped due to the wildfires. Authorities urged residents to avoid dangerous areas, observe restrictions, and follow official emergency services announcements.
