However, behind this fairytale appearance lies a reclusive creature with a strong character: encountering a pika is a nearly impossible task. It has taken a liking to the harsh and inaccessible slopes of the Tian Shan Mountains in China, hiding at altitudes between 2,800 and 4,100 meters, where humans are rare. Its unique combination of large round ears, short legs, and a face straight out of a Disney movie make it one of the most recognizable, yet elusive, inhabitants of our planet.
