The legendary Frank Gehry's architectural saga continues to sweep the UAE: construction has officially begun on his latest masterpiece, the massive Dar al Funoon (House of the Arts) complex, in Abu Dhabi. The project, reminiscent of gigantic folds of flowing fabric, promises to become one of the region's premier theater and concert venues by 2030. Notably, this futuristic structure is being built adjacent to another long-running project by the master—a branch of the Guggenheim Museum. While the Dar al Funoon (House of the Arts) will have to wait, the long-suffering museum, one of the great architect's final creations during his lifetime, is scheduled to open its doors to tourists this fall.
