When we see a superhero car or a futuristic racer's car on the big screen, we don't think about who creates these vehicles. Most people assume that somewhere deep within the Dream Factory, there's a workshop assembling futuristic supercars and incredible limousines. But in reality, most of the amazing cars we see on screen are thanks to Jay Ohrberg. He's been nicknamed the "King of TV Cars," and he's well-deserved the title.

For half a century, American Jay Ohrberg has been designing and assembling cars for films, TV series, and shows. Nothing is impossible for him. Jay is the father of a 30-meter limousine, a 6-meter soccer jeep, a giant racing guitar, and a limo with a volleyball court.

It must be said that Ohrberg's imagination is confined to the world of automobiles. Sometimes he breaks free, and then the result is no less cool. For example, he built James Bond's Lotus Esprit submarine from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). Yes, the car from Ghostbusters, the ride from The Pink Panther, and a dozen Batmobiles from various eras are also on his conscience.

It all started in the early 1970s, when Jay was driving a truck. His job included delivering cars to auto shows and exhibitions. During that time, Orberg saw all sorts of cars. It was then that he realized that show cars were a good way to earn money, and an enjoyable one at that. Yes, in his free time, he loved tinkering in the garage and driving fast on the highway.

Homemade Vehicles That Changed the Film Industry

And Jay Ohrberg began to "do something weird." His first homemade creations, shown to the public, became a sensation. Offers from film studios and TV show producers were not long in coming. Today, 80-year-old Jay is Hollywood's leading expert on unusual cars, motorcycles, and boats. Despite his advanced age, the designer is full of energy and ideas.

Jay Ohrberg is currently working on a new, incredible limousine with two engines, a swimming pool, and a helipad. At the same time, he's developing a car for SpongeBob SquarePants, which, you'll agree, is no easy task. The American also plans to open a museum in Las Vegas soon, where his most spectacular creations will be on display.
