Most of us, whether we've seen it in person or have seen it in movies or postcards, certainly know the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome. Of course, the Trevi, like other world-famous fountains, is a true work of art, but we believe that equally beautiful and ingenious sculptures featuring flowing water have been created around the world.

The Water Boat fountain is located on Malvarrosa Beach in Valencia, Spain.

The Charybdis whirlpool fountain was created by sculptor William Pye in 2000 for the luxury Seaham Hotel and Spa in northern England. Charybdis is the name of the siren in Homer's Odyssey, who was struck by Zeus's lightning bolt and turned into a whirlpool as punishment for stealing Hercules's cattle.

The "Nine Floating Fountains" was designed by Japanese-American architect Isamu Noguchi for the 1970 Osaka World's Fair.

The 24-meter fountain was unveiled in 2009 at a shopping mall in Dubai.

The "Toilet Waterfall" in Foshan, China. Perhaps one of the strangest on our list. It's constructed from 10,000 toilets, sinks, and urinals suspended from the wall across a 100-meter width and 5-meter height. Incidentally, all the toilets and urinals flush.

The Crown Fountain is an interactive technological marvel in Chicago's Millennium Park. Glass towers, separated by a 70-meter-long black granite reflecting pool, are illuminated on three sides by shimmering LEDs. The fourth side is a massive LED screen that projects the faces of city residents.
