Aston Martin is suing Geely over the "winged" Logo (2 photos)
British automaker Aston Martin has filed a lawsuit against its shareholder over its subsidiary LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company)'s use of a winged logo. Since 2013, this company has been wholly owned by China's Geely. LEVC is known for producing those famous London taxis.
The dispute began back in 2022. At that time, Aston Martin attempted to challenge the registration, citing similarities between the emblems. However, the court recognized that winged logos are common in the auto industry, a decision that was not acceptable to the British company. Geely stated that the dispute was a standard procedure for protecting intellectual property.
Aston Martin was ultimately ordered to pay Geely £2,200 in legal costs. However, the British company is attempting to reopen the case. Geely Holding Group owns approximately 13-17% of Aston Martin's shares, providing the brand with technology and strategic support, but is not the controlling owner. ![]()
