Spring has sprung, and new movies have been released. We have some exciting listings: from the long-awaited return of Cillian Murphy in a razor-sharp cap and a new fantasy from Pixar to a sequel to the iconic battles of Mortal Kombat and a biopic about another musical legend. We've compiled a list of ten of the most promising premieres, worth putting everything aside and crawling into a stuffy movie theater to loudly crack open a bag of chips during the most tense moments.
Bride! — March 6
This is Maggie Gyllenhaal's take on "Bride of Frankenstein." Starring Christian Bale as the Beast and Jessie Buckley, from the recent "Hamnet," as the Bride.
What to expect: A stylish horror film set in 1930s Chicago.
Jumpers - March 6
A new original work from Pixar. The plot revolves around a girl who transfers her mind into the body of a robot beaver to enter the animal kingdom.
What to expect: Another masterpiece that will make both adults and children cry. Pixar has a knack for turning crazy ideas into profound stories about understanding nature.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man — March 6
Cillian Murphy returns as Thomas Shelby in the feature-length finale of the saga. Directed by series creator Steven Knight.
What's coming: A final chapter in the story of Birmingham gangsters. Set during World War II.
The End of the World Project — March 20
A film adaptation of the new hit from The Martian creator Andy Weir. Ryan Gosling stars as scientist Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spaceship in deep space with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Grace discovers that he is Earth's last hope, and his help in saving humanity will be provided by Rocky, an extremely charismatic (though he looks like a five-legged rock spider) alien from another star system.
What's expected: A true space bromance and, overall, a successful, entertaining space movie.
Super Mario: Galaxy Cinematic - April 1st
A sequel to the 2023 animated hit. Nintendo and Illumination send the mustachioed plumber into outer space, inspired by the game Super Mario Galaxy.
What to expect: A dose of good humor and a ton of references for fans.
What a drama! — April 2
Pattinson seems to have chosen a new role for himself: a guy who gets caught up in a strange relationship. Here, he's about to marry Zendaya, but she confesses something that changes the situation dramatically.
What to expect: Fiery chemistry between the leads, as well as a hilarious and, at times, bizarre take on modern relationships.
Michael — April 24
A biopic about the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The lead role is played by the singer's nephew, Jafar Jackson.
What to expect: A story about the musician's life, in which all possible rough edges will likely be smoothed out.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 — May 1
After 20 years, Miranda Priestly returns. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt are back in action. Miranda faces the end of the glossy magazine era.
What to expect: A clash of fashion titans, caustic remarks, Hathaway and Blunt, who haven't aged a bit in 20 years, and, of course, impeccable style.
Mortal Kombat 2 - May 15
A sequel to the legendary fighting game. Karl Urban has joined the cast as Johnny Cage.
What to expect: Even more fatalities, the appearance of new iconic fighters, and plenty of brutal humor.
The Mandalorian and Grogu – May 22
The first full-length film in the Star Wars universe since 2019. Directed by Jon Favreau.
What to expect: A grand adventure on the big screen. This is a chance for the franchise to make a triumphant return to theaters. Let's hope the film is made in such a way that you don't need to watch three seasons of the series to understand it.
