Relatives of the former owner believe the deal was fraudulent.
Italian police are searching for one of the 33 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercars ever produced. According to Autoevolution, relatives of the rare coupe's owner contacted law enforcement after discovering he had sold the supercar, which could be worth millions, for just 10 euros.
The identity of the now-deceased owner of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale has not been disclosed, although he is described as a renowned French collector. The suspicious transaction took place in Naples, and the new owner of the supercar has already deregistered the car after signing the contract and, according to some reports, exported it from the country.
The seller's heirs are attempting to challenge the legality of the sale, claiming the transaction was conducted under duress and that the deceased was emotionally vulnerable at the time. A €100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the recovery of the car.
Alfa Romeo unveiled the 33 Stradale supercar in mid-2023, calling the new model a revival of the eponymous model from the second half of the 1960s. The coupe was offered with a 620-horsepower V6 or three electric motors producing 750 hp. The official price of the supercar has not been released, as the entire run was sold out before the premiere, but some estimates place the starting price of the 33 Stradale at between €1.5 million and €2 million.
