A fairy-tale giantess's boot on a Mumbai hillside (9 photos + 1 video)
The fashionable Malabar Hill in Mumbai is home to the beautiful Hanging Gardens, overlooking the famous Marine Drive.
This hill was once part of Bombay Island, one of the original seven islands that merged to form modern Mumbai.
Kamala Nehru Park
The Hanging Gardens complex includes a public park named after Kamala Nehru. Its main attraction is unusual, as it is a giant old shoe built for children. It is inspired by the nursery rhyme "Once Upon a Time There Lived an Old Lady in a Shoe." Built in 1952, this structure remains a favorite spot for generations.
Shoe Park is incredibly popular with children, and many families come to this park for picnics and relaxation. The park offers many activities for young visitors, including a colorful amphitheater and installations dedicated to children's fairy tales and poems.
Near the shoe is a viewing platform offering breathtaking views of the Queen's Necklace coastline (Marine Drive). Scenes for several Bollywood films have been filmed here.
