A Strange Christmas Tradition in Portugal (2 photos + video)
Every country has its own traditions, some of which may seem strange to us. And it's always interesting to learn something new about the cultures of people from different parts of the world. However... some traditions are extremely difficult to understand.
In Portugal, children are officially allowed to smoke one day a year as part of an old Christmas tradition.
This custom takes place on January 6th in the village of Vale de Salgueiro, where even 10-year-olds are allowed to participate, citing the preservation of centuries-old customs. The authorities are aware of this, but do not interfere.
We do not support this.
