A raccoon that recently broke into a liquor store in the US overnight has been identified as a repeat offender. The furry creature is suspected of at least three "robberys."
The story of the raccoon that wreaked havoc at an ABC liquor store in Virginia turns out to be part of a longer chain of incidents. The animal, found among broken bottles, had previously broken into other stores in the same complex. Animal control officer Samantha Martin revealed this on the local podcast "Hear in Hanover."
The woman who discovered the raccoon after the incident said local residents had known it for a long time. She said this wasn't the first time the animal had appeared in this building and had a recognizable pattern. The employee added that this was the third such incident.
The raccoon had previously found its way into a karate studio and also allegedly managed to sneak into the Department of Motor Vehicles office, where it ate some snacks left behind. All of these locations are located near a liquor store.
"Every time we release it, we don't move it because that's a death sentence for raccoons, but somehow it knows how to get back into this building. It's a smart little animal," Martin said.
During the last visit, the raccoon was lifted from the floor and placed in a cage, after which he was briefly taken to the shelter to recover. After several hours, specialists confirmed that the male was feeling well and released him back into the forest.
