In Shanghai, Chanel opened the first public contemporary art library in mainland China, Espace Gabrielle Chanel, which is part of the Chanel Cultural Foundation Asia project. The 18,000-square-meter space contains over 50,000 books and audio recordings. The project was designed by Kazunari Sakamoto.
