The Porsche Cayenne became a 1,156-horsepower electric car (29 photos)
The top-of-the-line version of the new model can reach 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 402 meters (328 ft) in 9.9 seconds.
Yesterday evening, Porsche unveiled the battery-powered Cayenne SUV, dubbed the Electric. It is noted that the vehicle will not replace the current crossover family, but rather complement it.
The Cayenne Electric is 55 mm longer than the current Cayenne, while its wheelbase is almost 13 cm longer. The new model's dimensions are 4985 mm, 1980 mm, and 1674 mm, with a wheelbase of 3023 mm. The trunk volume is 781 liters, expanding to 1588 liters with the rear seats folded. An additional 90 liters are available in the front trunk.
Inside, the SUV features a trio of displays that occupy almost the entire dashboard. The digital instrument cluster measures 14.3 inches, while the optional passenger screen measures 14.9 inches. Between them is a curved central touchscreen, which also houses the climate control unit. Some climate control settings, such as temperature and air flow, are controlled by buttons.
The car features an 87-inch head-up display, electrically adjustable front and rear seats, heated armrests and door panels, and a panoramic roof with variable light transmission. Neural networks have also been incorporated: the Cayenne Electric is available with a voice assistant.
The car is based on the updated PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform with an 800-volt architecture, which debuted on the Macan Electric. The car comes standard with PASM adaptive shock absorbers with dual-chamber air springs, and all-wheel steering is available as an option.
The base Cayenne Electric has two electric motors with a combined output of 408 hp. In launch control mode, power output increases to 442 hp and 835 Nm. This crossover accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 143 mph.
The range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric is powered by a combination of 857 hp and 176 hp engines. The car is equipped with a Push-to-Pass function, which increases output by 176 hp for 10 seconds. The maximum 1,156 hp and 1,500 Nm are only available when starting from a standing start using launch control. The Cayenne Turbo Electric reaches 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds, and its top speed is 160 mph.
Regardless of the version, the electric Cayenne is equipped with a 113 kWh battery. The less powerful version has a range of 642 kilometers, while the Turbo version has a range of up to 623 km on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. The car can be recharged from 10% to 80% in 16 minutes at powerful charging stations (390 kW). The optional 11 kW inductive charging is also highlighted. This is the brand's first production model with wireless charging capability.
The Cayenne Electric will start at $111,350 in the US market, with the Turbo version priced at at least $165,350, but this price tag could increase significantly due to the numerous optional extras. Sales begin in late summer 2026.
