In China, an SUV driver struck a knife-wielding man who refused to surrender to police. A witness captured the incident on camera.
The confrontation occurred near a bank. Despite police orders to surrender, the surrounded attacker continued waving his weapon. At that moment, the man featured in the video was driving by. Seeing the scene, he instantly decided to act.
The man was taken to the hospital. Officials explained that the driver's intervention was a "spontaneous act of a citizen." Authorities have so far avoided commenting on the legal classification of his actions. A lawyer noted that the driver's actions constituted an act of justifiable self-defense.
