A monkey experienced a sense of injustice

Monkeys are capable of experiencing a sense of injustice just as acutely as humans. A 2003 experiment in which one capuchin monkey was given a cucumber and the other a grape for the same task. At some point, the monkey began to reject the unfair pay.

Two monkeys, housed in adjacent cages, were required to perform the same simple task: give a rock to a human. For completing the task, both received a reward. The first monkey was given a cucumber, while the second received a much more desirable grape.
