African researchers have trained rats to detect tuberculosis. Accuracy reaches 90%.

In Africa, tuberculosis is diagnosed using… rats – trained HeroRATs can detect the disease by smelling a sample in three seconds – faster than any test.

One such rat can test up to a hundred sputum samples in just 20 minutes, whereas it would take laboratory technicians four days.

Accuracy reaches 90%, and rodents often find what humans miss.
