A Man Almost Lost His Finger Because of a Samsung Smart Ring (5 photos)
A popular blogger with the nickname ZoneOfTech almost lost a finger because of a Samsung smart ring.
According to the YouTuber, who has 1.63 million subscribers, he discovered that his Samsung Galaxy Ring had swelled before a flight. Apparently, the device's battery had failed, swelled, and pinched his finger. ZoneOfTech was only able to remove the ring with the help of doctors.
The author admitted that the defective ring squeezed his finger and caused severe pain. He was also denied boarding due to the risk of the device catching fire. He tried removing the ring by soaking his finger in soap, but it didn't help—it only expanded further. Ultimately, the blogger had to abandon the flight and seek medical attention, who used instruments to remove the Galaxy Ring from his finger.
"I'll never wear a smart ring again," the author confessed to his followers. Representatives from Samsung UK technical support responded to his blog post. They asked ZoneOfTech to contact the company and provide more details about the incident.
Neowin journalists scoured social media and Samsung forums for similar situations but found no other reports of a swollen Galaxy Ring battery. They concluded that this may have been an isolated incident.
