There was so much talk about ecology and electric motors ... and now AMG is already working on a new V8 (8 photos)
After getting a kick in the pants from the Chinese in the electric vehicle sector, Mercedes-Benz immediately started singing a song - "the main goal of his company is to satisfy customer needs."
In a recent publication by Auto Express, AMG CEO Michael Schiebe said that the main goal of his company is to satisfy customer needs, adding that "if there is a constant demand for V8 engines, then their production in accordance with the regulations must be our engineering task."
His colleague, AMG design chief Steffen Jastrow, shared a few details about the next-generation V8 turbo engine.
Firstly, the company plans to increase the output of the power plant. It is claimed that the upper power limit of the eight will be higher. For example: one of the most productive AMG without electric add-ons now is the two-door GT 63 in the Pro version with its 611 forces.
Secondly, the unit will definitely be accompanied by a hybrid unit, but whether it will be a mild version with a starter-generator or a PHEV is not specified.
According to Autocar, the new V8 will lose the sound familiar to engines of the German brand due to the rejection of a cross-shaped crankshaft in favor of a flat one. Thus, engineers intend to raise the maximum speed and achieve better output. Well, the previous rumble can be partially restored due to the sound from the speakers in the cabin. It is worth recalling that the new product will not be the first experiment of the brand with such an engine scheme. One example is the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
The new V8 is expected to go into production in 2026.
