An elderly man from Belgium traveled more than 700 kilometers to meet Sophie Vouzelo, the winner of the Miss France contest in 2007. Later, 76-year-old Michel realized that the girl did not know about him, and all this time he was communicating with scammers.
After several weeks of close communication in the messenger, Michel was determined to continue the relationship with the model. The widower decided to personally come to his beloved Sophie and propose to her. However, when Michel arrived at Vouzelo's house, he met her real husband. They had an awkward conversation. The pensioner said that he would be the model's next husband. "Well, I am the current one," her husband Fabien replied.

The couple invited the man to their home to find out all the details of what happened. As a result, it turned out that the fraudsters had been communicating with Michel for several weeks and extorting money. In total, he paid about €35,000. The couple advised the man to contact the police with a complaint of fraud. "I'm an idiot," the Belgian commented.
The BBC notes that the couple does not know whether Michel contacted the police. He realized that he had been deceived only during a conversation with Sophie and Fabien.
