When climbing up to the fifth floor by stairs turns into a daily feat, a real engineer builds his own transport. A Chinese pensioner built a cable car from the balcony to the ground into his apartment and used it for five years until utility workers finally noticed this technical miracle. His design with a platform and cables worked so organically that it became an integral part of the area.
The local housing office, having discovered the homemade product, demanded its dismantling - a standard story for any non-standard solution. Now the elderly inventor will have to conquer the flights of stairs again.
