A tourist faces a €200,000 fine for throwing a rock into a ravine in a popular national park.
A friend of the hiker captured the questionable activity on the popular Cares trail in the Picos de Europa National Park in northern Spain. The man grabs a rock and throws it into a ravine, and a few seconds later a deafening sound is heard.
About 2 million tourists visit the park every year, and 300,000 walk along the Cares trail.

The video was published on a social network and attracted the attention of the police. The Spanish Civil Guard launched an investigation.
"This stunt can result in a fine of €5,001 to €200,000," the authorities commented. "Why? Because harming nature in the Picos de Europa National Park is considered a serious crime. Don't forget that this is a specially protected area."

Local Javier commented on the video: "There are farmers below. Your joke could have ended badly."
Another added: "You have to be a complete idiot to do something like that. The force and weight of the boulder could have killed someone."
"Let's not forget that people are climbing in these parts. When you throw something, there could be someone below," a third reminded.
