A Capuchin Monkey Has Become a New Star of Chinese Social Media Due to Its Unusual Appearance (2 photos + 1 video)
The capuchin has been living in a wildlife park in China for ten years, but has only now become famous thanks to a viral video. According to zoologists, the animal is distinguished by its timidity and gentle nature.
A male black-headed capuchin named Dachuzhan — which means “big” and “strong” — has been living in a zoo for ten years, but has only now become a social media star. All thanks to a video that went viral on Douyin in late May — it was filmed by a visitor to the park.
Since then, Dachuzhan has gained thousands of fans. Many come to the zoo and make new videos about the life of the capuchin. One of the visitors even tried to draw his face.
Some, however, consider Dachuzhan "ugly-cute". However, zoologist Zhang Chunxue, who takes care of the capuchins in the park, disagrees with this opinion. Despite his formidable appearance, the capuchin is distinguished by his timidity and gentle nature. In addition, according to Chunxue, among capuchins, "the alpha male usually has a more square face and a larger build." So by these standards, "Dachuzhan is very handsome."

The capuchin also has a family: the female Xiaomei, which translates as "little beauty," and the baby Xiaoshuai, which translates as "little beauty." According to park staff, Dazhuang often takes care of his beloved while she rocks their baby.
