Several million people attended the concert of the American singer Lady Gaga in Rio de Janeiro. The largest concert in the singer's history was paid for from the city budget.
Lady Gaga gave a concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, gathering more than 2 million spectators. This became the largest solo performance of a woman in history.
According to local authorities, the concert attracted about half a million tourists to the city - twice as many as expected. The economic effect for Rio is estimated at about 94 million euros.
Brazilian police reported that a terrorist attack was prevented at a concert. The investigation established that attacks were planned using improvised explosive devices and Molotov cocktails.
Last year, Madonna gathered about 1.5 million people on the same beach.
