On the island of Shikoku in Japan, you can find a hybrid of a train and a bus. It can carry passengers on both regular roads and railways.
The dual-mode vehicle DMV looks like a bus and travels on roads on regular rubber tires. When the DMV approaches special stations, the driver lowers the wheel pairs. The transformation takes about 15 seconds.
In this case, the front car wheels are raised and do not touch the rails, and the rear wheels travel on them. The DMV runs on diesel fuel and holds 21 passengers.
The DMV travels at speeds of up to 60 km/h on the railway and up to 100 km/h on asphalt.
