Honda car dealer will return customers overpayment above the official price for all extras and unauthorized "capes" (1 photo)
It was almost like ours - they took additional money from customers for accessories and services, and also came up with various commissions and fees, only there at least one greedy dealer got his hands slapped.
The Darcars Honda dealer from the USA, by decision of the Attorney General of the State of Maryland, will return to its customers the amounts that they had to pay in addition to the official cost of the cars sold. The total amount of compensation has not been named, but we are talking about several million dollars. It is noted that this is not a court verdict, but a settlement agreement between the company and the authorities.
According to the prosecution, the dealership "used unfair and misleading trading methods." In particular, it charged a certain "sales commission" of 2%, which is not provided for by law. There were also cases of imposing additional equipment and services. Customers had no idea of the final price of the car until the last moment.
The total amount to be returned to customers is not specified. However, as part of the signed settlement agreement, Darcars Honda will pay three million dollars to the Attorney General's Office. Most likely, buyers were deceived for no less.
The dealership issued its own comment. It stated that it was ready to prove in court the absolute legality of its actions. And the agreement to pay compensation and a fine is "simply a business decision that allows the dealership to avoid the costs and distractions associated with litigation."
