According to preliminary data, no one was hurt. But both ships, judging by the footage, will be written off, unless, of course, they sink.

A major emergency occurred in the North Sea due to a collision between the container ship Solong and the oil tanker Stena Immaculate. According to media reports, the container ship under the Portuguese flag crashed into a US-registered tanker that was at anchor. After the collision, the tanker was holed and caught fire. It is known that the ship was carrying aviation fuel. The amount of fuel in the tanks has not yet been reported.

The incident occurred at 9:48 local time (12:48 Moscow time) 16 kilometers from the large international port of Hull off the coast of East Yorkshire. Judging by the footage, fuel from the tanker has already spilled into the sea and is burning along with the vessel. A fire has also been reported on the container ship.

"The Coast Guard reported that an oil tanker and a cargo ship have collided in the North Sea. On Monday morning, lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter were called to the scene of the collision in the mouth of the Humber River. It is believed that the US-flagged tanker MV Stena Immaculate was involved in the collision," writes Bloomberg.

There is no exact data on the victims yet, but some publications report that the crew of the tanker managed to evacuate in a hurry on boats. A large-scale rescue operation is currently underway off the coast of Great Britain. Local emergency services are calling on the owners of nearby ships that have fire-fighting equipment to join in extinguishing the American tanker. It is noted that a helicopter and a coast guard aircraft have also joined the rescue operation.

According to media reports, the cargo ship Solong, built in 2005, was heading to the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and was supposed to arrive there by the evening of March 10. And the oil tanker Stena Immaculate, launched in 2017, was heading to the port of Killingholme in the UK. The causes of the accident have not yet been announced.
