Yesterday afternoon in a speedboat accident off the coast of Phuket more than 30 tourists were injured, including 21 citizens of Russia. It is reported that in the afternoon the ship returned to Phuket with excursions from neighboring islands and at considerable speed collided with a concrete signal tower located 100 meters from the pier of the bay Chalong.

The bow of the boat was literally torn from the collision. in half, almost all the people on board were injured - 33 person, including four crew members.



Six people in the boat were seriously injured, 13 passengers injuries of moderate severity, the remaining 18 people escaped with abrasions and bruised.



All victims were promptly hospitalized at seven leading hospitals in the city. Last night all the victims were visited representatives of the Phuket administration and contacted the consulates of the countries whose citizens were injured in the incident. In addition to 21 tourists from Russia, there were 9 citizens of Kazakhstan, two Chinese, four Thais and one citizen of Ukraine.






According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident was captain's negligence. This is reported by the local police. Investigation continues.
