Thanks to modern technology, scientists were able to find out what the great composer actually looked like - for this they needed his skull.
Historians have been wondering for many years what the great composer looked like. Most of the portraits were painted after his death, and the few that were made during his life are very different from each other.
Thanks to modern technology, this was possible to find out. The result turned out to be very similar to two famous lifetime portraits: the unfinished portrait of Joseph Lange (1783) and the sketch of Dora Stock (1789).
