Can you imagine how the Eskimos live? The Alpine hotel chain Iglu-Dorf offers a unique opportunity to spend a day or two in a real igloo. The temperature inside the room is from -2°C to +2°C, and all the furniture is made of snow. However, guests are provided with special sleeping bags that will help them warm up even at temperatures down to -40°C.





The rooms are equipped with heating mats, electric lighting and USB ports. Guests can also warm up in an outdoor hot tub.

There are three such hotels in Switzerland: in Davos (2500 m above sea level), Gstaad (1900 m) and Zermatt (2700 m); one in Austria, in Innsbruck (2000 m); and one in Germany, in Zugspitze (2600 m). And every year they have to be built anew.



All the igloos are connected by a network of corridors that serve as a reliable shelter from the elements. These structures are so strong that a snowplow can drive along them without anything happening.

The walls are decorated with intricate stucco work created by artists from all over the world.

Guests, whether single travelers or families, can choose to stay in a “classic” igloo, located away from the main complex, or splurge on a suite, which includes a private toilet and Jacuzzi, as well as trays of champagne and aperitifs. Regardless of the choice, each person is served tea in bed in the morning, i.e. in their sleeping bag.







The hotels also have restaurants and bars, saunas, but no showers. Iglu-Dorf offers guests a variety of activities: skiing, snowshoeing and an exciting quest in a mysterious igloo.





Tripadvisor users generally agree that the village is a great experience. However, they warn that you should be prepared for the lack of amenities and the cold.

User "Nytrydr" noted, "Very cold! I know it's an igloo, but it was still uncomfortable to sleep in."

The Iglu-Dorf website says: "Five igloo villages are located in the mountains, where a night in the snow will be a unique experience.
