I'm Being Trolled for Dating a "12-Year-Old." Ill-Wishers Stare and Yell at Us, But We Don't Care (7 photos)
When Jonathan first saw Lindsay, he thought she was only 12 or 13 years old. Her childlike features make the 23-year-old look 10 years younger.
In fact, Lindsay's petite frame is due to a rare form of cancer that she was diagnosed with when she was five years old. She stands at 147cm, which is why she often gets stared at when she goes out in public with her husband Jonathan, who is 178cm.
A couple from the UK recently opened up about the negative comments they receive online and how they cope.
When Lindsay shared the news of her pregnancy, people were outraged. “She won’t be a good mum because she looks like a baby,” one commenter said.
“It’s painful to read, but we just push it aside because we love each other,” says Jonathan, 28.
His wife complained: "I've faced criticism all my life, people telling me I lie about my age. Accusations of being a nine-year-old. I'm often asked if I'm in primary school and I'm always asked for identification when I buy alcohol."
On a trip to Exmouth when Lindsay was in the final stages of her pregnancy, strangers shouted at the couple.
"Sometimes I think, 'Do I really want to go out?'" he admits.
Lindsay and Jonathan met 7 years ago when their mother introduced them.
After Truly shared their story, people rushed to support the family: "What a wonderful couple and baby! I wish them a long and happy life together!"; "How wonderful that you found each other. Your baby is lucky to have you" ; "Congratulations, you are great parents! It's a shame you have to deal with negativity from others" ; "Congratulations on the new baby. He's adorable. Don't listen to the haters. It's their problem, not yours." "I wouldn't have thought you were a baby, you're just so tiny."
