Rolls-Royce has unveiled a "charged" version of the Spectre battery coupe, which has expanded the Black Badge line. Its engines are capable of producing up to 659 hp and 1075 Nm, which is called a record figure for the brand, but the full output of the power plant will only be available when several electronic modes are activated at once. The company does not name the start date of sales or the price of the electric car.
The peak power of the engines and the sharpened reactions to the accelerator of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre will only be possible by pressing the button called Infinity, located on the steering wheel. And access to the maximum traction indicator is only available when starting in Spirited Mode, an analogue of launch control. You can activate it by simultaneously pressing the gas and brake pedals.
Releasing the full potential of the electric motors will allow you to reach 60 miles per hour (96 km/ h) in 4.1 seconds - about 0.4 seconds faster than the regular Spectre.
Rolls-Royce explains such limited access to the capabilities of the power plant by customer preferences. When developing the new product, anonymized data on hundreds of thousands of miles of travel by Spectre owners was analyzed, and as a result, the company came to the conclusion that they use their full potential only for short accelerations.
Among other differences, the new electric car is named a redesigned chassis. The coupe is equipped with new shock absorbers that minimize "dive" during acceleration and braking, as well as reconfigured steering and body position control system with different calibrations to reduce roll in turns.
Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre will traditionally receive a darkened exterior finish. The new Vapour Violen body color and 23-inch wheels debuted along with the electric car. The interior trim actively uses the infinity symbol (horizontal figure eight) and original methods of weaving carbon threads for various linings.
