The three-wheeled speedster Polaris Slingshot got a new look and more powerful engines (17 photos)

In honor of the 10th anniversary of the model, recreational equipment manufacturer Polaris updated the Slingshot tricycle. All its trim levels and versions have acquired a modified appearance, and the engines have become slightly more powerful. The innovations affected the price: the cost of the basic version increased by 3 thousand dollars at once.





The design of the front part has been revised to be more aggressive, adding new bumpers with larger air ducts and other fenders. Depending on the trim level, the Slingshot will have different trim, and the top version R can be identified by the splitter and air intake on the hood.

The ground clearance on the front axle has been increased by 25 millimeters. It is also reported that the suspension has been recalibrated, which should improve the handling and stability of the three-wheeler. The cabin has new speakers from Rockford Fosgate of a larger diameter, the sound from which will better block out road noise: the Slingshot has neither a full roof nor doors (only a light top as an option).

If Polaris previously used a 2.4-liter GM unit on the model, then in recent years it has been using its own ProStar "four" with a volume of 2.0 liters. On the basic versions of the updated model, it develops 183 hp and 175 Nm (plus 2 forces and 12 Nm), on the top versions, the output is increased by 1 hp and 8 Nm - up to 207 forces and 203 Nm. The company especially notes the wider and flatter "shelf" of torque. As before, the engines can be aggregated with either a five-speed manual gearbox or with the AutoDrive sequential gearbox from Magneti Marelli.

Prices for the three-wheeled speedster in the US are in the range of 25 to 35 thousand dollars.
