A ghost made from scrap materials

A special effects master demonstrated how to create a ghost for a movie using improvised means and not only.

A craftsman from the film industry turned an ordinary Halloween doll-decoration into a frightening vision from the other world. Using a mask, a black background and a large container of water, the special effects master demonstrated how otherworldly entities appear on the screen. Immersing the doll in water creates a mesmerizing effect of hovering, and specially selected lighting turns a simple structure into a creepy guest from the afterlife.

However, behind the external ease lies painstaking work on synchronizing all the elements - precision of movements, the correct shooting angle, verified lighting and a 3D printer for the mask, which can hardly be called an improvised means.
