A few years ago, a Chinese woman named Su Min left her husband and went traveling alone. Since then, her story has inspired many women, and millions of people follow Su Min's adventures.
On January 27, the woman finally managed to get a divorce, writes the South China Morning Post. Min paid her ex-husband $22,000 (although he initially demanded $69,000) to agree to the dissolution of the marriage. To celebrate the occasion, the woman bought a camper van and continued on her journey. Min is now 60.
“38 years of my life. I paid for my mistakes, and from now on we will go our separate ways <...> It was only at 60 that I really began to understand what life is,” the woman wrote.
Min currently has 3.5 million followers on her Weibo page. The woman began her journey in 2020. Tired of being nagged by her husband, the woman got into a white Volkswagen Polo, which she bought with the money she had saved, and left her home. Then, Min says, she “felt free for the first time.”
In five years, the woman traveled to about 400 cities, all this time she lived on her pension and income from her blog. Min tells subscribers how to survive a breakup and shares her adventures. The woman's fans have nicknamed her "the traveling aunt" and "the icon of feminism."
"I was just a worker in my family. No ambitions, no dreams. I wanted to know if women of my generation could have a different life, go beyond the roles of wives and mothers. Should we live our entire lives in someone else's shadow? Doesn't our world matter?" Min notes in one of the videos. </...>
