Not all famous actors pass the test of fame. Even the most seemingly successful actors can break down and do something stupid that costs them their career. This happened to the famous actress Lindsay Lohan.

Brief biography

Lindsay Lohan was born on July 2, 1986, to a singer and a stockbroker who also inherited his father's pasta factory. Lindsay is the eldest child in the family, but like her, all her brothers and sisters will connect their careers with cinema or the modeling business in the future.

Already at the age of three, Lindy acted as a model in the agency "Ford models". Since childhood, she starred in a variety of commercials. This is what helped her open the door to the world of cinema.

The beginning of a film career and first success

Thanks to the numerous advertisements in which Lindsay starred, she was noticed. And already at the age of 10, she starred in her first big project, namely in the series "Another World", where she played Alexandra Fowler.

Well, thanks to the series "Another World", Lindsay Lohan was noticed by producers of the Disney studio, after which she was invited to the full-length family film "The Parent Trap" (1998), where she played two characters - Hallie Parker and Annie James.

The Parent Trap

True, initially Lohan was only one of four contenders for these roles. Moreover, in the end, the roles of the two twins were supposed to be given to the young actress Jena Malone, but she refused because she was simultaneously filming the movie "Stepmom" with Julia Roberts.

In the end, director Nancy Meyers decided to take Lindsay Lohan into the film. And everyone liked Lindsay's performance so much that many even noted that she played better than the young actress from the original 1961 film. Oh, and I forgot to say that the film "The Parent Trap" (1998) is a remake.

The film was quite a success, because with a budget of 15 million dollars, it collected a box office of 92 million. And thanks to this success, the studio "Disney" signed a contract with the young actress for 3 more films, for which the actress received a total of 1 million dollars.

Achievements

In 2000, Lindsay starred in the film "The Perfect Toy", and in 2002 she appeared in the lead role in the film "Spy Kids" (not to be confused with the film "Spy Kids"). However, both of these films bypassed theaters and were released immediately on the "Disney+" channel.

But the third film "Freaky Friday" (2002) about the body swap between mother and daughter has already hit theaters. Moreover, it was originally planned that this film would be a continuation of the original 1976 film, where the role of the daughter was played by Jodie Foster. And in the new film, she was supposed to play the mother. But because Foster turned down the role of the mother, the film was decided to be remade.

Freaky Friday

True. The problems with finding an actress did not go away. Before Jamie Lee Curtis was given this role, several other actresses were wanted to sign for it. But they all refused.

Anna herself was originally supposed to be played by Michelle Trachtenberg. But she turned it down in favor of the series "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer". Then Lohan was signed for this film, with whom the Disney studio had a contract for another film.

As a result, the film "Freaky Friday" managed to collect 161 million dollars at the box office with a budget of only 20 million. It was an incredible success, thanks to which Lohan's career skyrocketed.

For the next film "Stage Star" (2004), where Lohan played Lola, trying to get the lead role in a school play, the actress received 1 million dollars, which was quite decent for a 17-year-old girl.

Stage Star

In the same 2004, the first film with Lindsay Lohan was released, which was not filmed by the studio "Disney". This film turned out to be the youth comedy "Mean Girls".

Initially, Lohan was supposed to play the main villain - the first beauty of the school Regina, whose role was eventually played by Rachel McAdams. The thing is that Lozan was very afraid that a negative role could have a bad effect on her career, so she asked the director to give her the role of a positive character.

Mean Girls

This film also had great box office success. With a budget of 17 million dollars, the film grossed 128 million. Such high box office receipts only strengthened Lozan's position in the Hollywood arena. And I'm not even mentioning that the actress's fee also jumped sharply.

In 2005, Lindsay returned to Disney again, starring in the film "Crazy Races". Moreover, this time the actress did not even participate in the casting. She was approved immediately, without auditions. And for this role, she received as much as 7 million dollars.

Crazy Races

The filmmakers invested a very impressive sum of $50 million in the film in the hope that the money would return to them with interest. And they were right. Despite the fact that many did not like this film, since it was compared to the original (yes, it was a remake again), it collected $144 million at the box office.

Starting in 2006, Lohan decided to refuse to act in Disney projects, as she believed that she needed to move on and not act in films for children and teenagers.

As a result, in 2006, as many as 4 films with her participation were released: "The Holiday", "Bobby", "Just Kiss Me" and "The Companions". True, these films were not as successful as the previous ones, but the actress herself received very impressive fees for them with six zeros for each film.

Failures

Around the same time, Lindsay Lohan began to have problems with alcohol and illegal substances. She began to appear in an insane state more and more often. Naturally, this could not but affect her career.

The actress began to be late for filming every now and then, and sometimes skipped it altogether for the above-mentioned reasons. Because of this, filming had to be rescheduled every now and then.

As a result, Lindsay Lohan was even removed from the advertising campaign for the film "Just Kiss".

And during filming, Lohan began to behave inappropriately. She cried for no reason, forgot her lines, or simply snapped at someone from the film crew.

As a result, critics and viewers tore apart the film "Just Kiss", and at the box office the film collected only 38 million with an investment of 28 million. And this meant only one thing - the film was a failure. And Lindsay herself snagged a nomination for the "Golden Raspberry" in the category "Worst Actress".

In 2007, Lindsay Lohan starred in the film "Chapter 27" with Jared Leto. And if Jared approached the role with all seriousness, and even gained a lot of extra pounds especially for it, then Lindsay treated the filming very frivolously.

True, the film was never released, having migrated straight to video. And the audience, together with the critics, did not appreciate this film in principle, just as they did not appreciate Jared Leto's sacrifice.

In the same 2007, the film "Georgia Rule" was released, in which Lindsay got into thanks to a previously concluded contract with the studio (back when she was at the peak of her fame). For this role, she again received 7 million dollars.

Georgia Power

But the actress could no longer be stopped. She again began to disappear somewhere and go on long binges, disrupting the filming of the movie. Moreover, Lohan herself came up with the most ridiculous excuses every now and then. Either her back hurt, or she had a rash, or her ear hurt. But everyone knew perfectly well the real reason for her absence from the set.

It even got to the point that the studio director began to threaten the studio with a lawsuit for her constant absences. And when journalists got wind of this, all the media rushed to report it. This had a strong impact on the film "Georgia Rule", which is why the film was "buried" even before its release on the big screen.

And in principle, people were right. With a budget of 20 million dollars, the film only collected 25 million dollars, which became another high-profile failure in the actress's career.

Lindsay had hopes for the film "I Know Who Killed Me", which was released in the same 2007, but here too she blew this chance. She again skipped filming due to her constant binges (including with Paris Hilton).

I Know Who Killed Me

And when the test screenings of the film failed, the film was sent for additional filming, but even here they could not catch Lohan, because of which the film was filmed and re-edited with a stunt double. And the whole thing is that the actress completely went off the rails, and even drove around the city in a car drunk, because of which she was placed in a rehabilitation center.

All this again did not have the best effect on the film, and as a result, with a budget of 12 million dollars, the film barely scraped together 9 million at the box office. By the way, this was the last film with Lohan in the leading role, which was released on the big screens. But the worst thing is that the film received as many as 9 nominations for the Golden Raspberry. Moreover, out of these 9 nominations, the film took 8 "awards".

Career death

To reduce the actress's alcohol consumption, she was given a special bracelet that responded to an increase in the level of alcohol in the blood. And strangely enough, the bracelet was constantly triggered. Lindsay herself stated that this was just a technical glitch. Well, yes, of course we believe it.

In 2009, Lindsay appeared in the film "Temporarily Pregnant", which was even supposed to be released in theaters. But after poor test screenings, it was decided to release the film directly on video media.

Temporarily Pregnant

And after that, the actress was no longer offered any big roles in films. She could only count on leading roles in useless low-budget films that were not shown at the box office, or she could appear in major films, but only for a short time.

But this did not stop the actress at all. She continued to drive drunk, lead an immoral lifestyle, and once even stole jewelry from a jewelry store worth 100 thousand dollars.

Of course, she starred in films, but these films are not really known to anyone, and their ratings most often do not exceed 3 points out of 10.

Only in 2018, Lindsay finally decided to settle down, and apparently she succeeded. Over the past few years, she has not been noticed in any scandals, and it seems she even stopped drinking to the point of memory loss.

In 2022, the last film with her participation to date, "An Unforgettable Christmas", was released, which also still bypassed cinemas, but got on the streaming platform "Netflix". True, this film is not exactly a star. It received a very average rating from viewers and critics.

An Unforgettable Christmas

But who knows? Maybe the actress will still be able to return to big cinema if she really tries. After all, she is only 38 years old, and she still has a chance, although not to return to her former glory, but at least to make herself known in a good sense of the word.
