All praying mantises are exclusively predatory animals, and in their hunting method they are mostly ambush predators, sitting motionless in one place and waiting for the prey to approach them. Praying mantises usually lie in wait for their prey while sitting on a plant, in the thick grass, or among the leaves of a bush.
