Criminals caught fire while trying to burn a car (4 photos + 1 video)
CCTV captured the moment two burglars accidentally set themselves on fire. On January 11, the men tried to set fire to a car outside a home in Wangaratta, north-east Victoria, Australia. But the fire spread to them.
Victoria Police released video footage Tuesday in the hope of tracking down the men. Officers say the men broke into a home and stole personal items before setting fire to the car. The occupants were not present at the time.
The robbers were last seen running towards Cambridge Drive.
A similar incident occurred in Melbourne on Christmas Eve. Two people pulled up to the shops on Doncaster Road in a white Toyota Tarago and then approached the cafe with a canister. One stood guard while the other poured flammable liquid on the facade and set it on fire. A fireball burst into flames in the air. A few seconds later, the criminal jerked back - his pants were engulfed in flames. The accomplice grabbed the canister and hurried away. His unlucky partner first tried to take off his pants, and then disappeared into the night. The police have not yet been able to establish the identities of the offenders.
