The Fastest Robot Dog in the World

Researchers from the Zhejiang University International Science and Innovation Center have created a robotic dog that boasts impressive speed for its type of robot.

Black Panther 2.0 weighs 38 kg, is 63 cm tall and can reach speeds of up to 10 meters per second or 36 km/h, making it the fastest robot of its type in the world. The team used the Huygens pendulum principle to coordinate all four limbs, allowing the robot to reach high speeds.

Special springs are installed in the knee joints to cushion the impact when running. Particular attention was paid to the design of the legs. Engineers developed carbon fiber shins based on the jerboa model, increasing their rigidity by 135% with a weight increase of only 16%.

Special "sneakers" inspired by cheetah claws improve traction by 200%. The next goal is to reach and even surpass the mobility of living beings.
