Lexus is not the same anymore. Lexus GX SUVs started to melt in the sun (5 photos)
The manufacturer has not yet commented on the unexpected problem.
Some parts of the Lexus GX's exterior trim cannot withstand the bright sun. According to The Drive, photos of melted SUV side mirrors and some other body design elements have begun to appear on American social networks. It is claimed that malfunctions in the vehicle's systems cannot be the cause of the deformation.
One of the owners of a Lexus GX whose driver's mirror housing melted told the publication that although the car had been parked outside for four days, it had not been parked near any heat source. The SUV had been parked in his driveway the entire time. The specialists at the service station where the car was sent came to the conclusion that the heating elements in the mirror were working properly and could not have caused such an effect.
Another affected GX owner noted that he bought the car in July, and it started melting in the sun in August. According to the motorist, one day, before getting into the SUV, he touched the central pillar, and the part was so hot that it was possible to burn himself. At the same time, the air temperature that day was only 54 degrees Fahrenheit (about 12 degrees Celsius). The American claims that he has lived and worked in the same places for more than ten years, and nothing like this has happened to his other cars.
The publication contacted the Lexus representative office in the United States for clarification, but has not yet received any messages. Meanwhile, in the comments to the publication, one of the users said that he encountered a similar problem on the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - the body trim on the right side melted in six places. As the car owner said, in response to the complaints, the dealer said that such a problem is not covered by the warranty, and advised not to park the car in the sun.
