The government plans to allocate £2.3 million a year for the operation of this "Center".
A "safe drug use" facility has opened in Glasgow, Scotland. There, addicts will be able to take substances in a "clean and hygienic environment".
The drugs themselves will not be given out: those who come there will be given clean needles, syringes, antiseptic wipes, water and a spoon. After that, they will go to the "recovery zone": there they can consult a doctor, measure blood pressure, oxygen levels and pulse. Hot drinks and snacks will also be provided.
The Scottish authorities have pledged to allocate £2.3 million annually for this project. As the authors of the initiative say, they want to save the lives of drug addicts dying from an overdose in a dirty alley.
And to the news from another European country - Finland. There, in the local parliament after a party, traces of ecstasy, amphetamine and cocaine were found.
They were discovered by journalists from the Yle publication, they were invited to a corporate party in honor of Christmas. There were deputies and ministerial assistants present. The press workers took with them disposable gloves, sterile tissue for collecting samples and sterilized water. They wiped door handles, faucets and toilet lids with a damp cloth. After that, they sent the material for examination.
Then they reported:
Drug residue was found in three different toilet cubicles - both men's and women's. According to the results of tests, traces of three drugs were found in the toilets inspected by parliament: amphetamine, ecstasy and cocaine.
Experts believe that the drugs could have gotten there from clothing or from physical secretions. For example, sneezing. But the test results cannot determine when exactly the substances got into these toilets.
